Facts About Breakthrough

undefinedBreakthrough offers a residential 5 1/2 - day program specifically designed for individuals impacted by family or relationship dysfunction in childhood or adult life.

Although a referral from a therapist is not required, this program is intended as an addition to outpatient counseling where individuals may address and release emotional pain from years of living in painful family systems.

This Program Is For You If:
  • You have difficulty remembering or understanding your childhood
  • You struggle with anger, sadness or fear of abandonment
  • You feel "stuck" (not growing), or emotionally blocked
  • You need to release anger or grief
  • Compulsive behaviors continue to disrupt your life (food, work, love, sex, etc.)
  • Despite hard work, you still find yourself in dysfunctional relationships
  • New issues have come to your attention, and you would like to address them more deeply than outpatient alone will allow
  • You are ready to move on to a new level of personal growth

Where:

Breakthrough at Caron is held in a beautifully restored mansion on the Caron Treatment Center campus in Wernersville, PA. Lodging is a short walk from the mansion in suites called Harmony House.

When:

Groups are weekly with the exception of Christmas week.

The 5 1/2 days begin on Sunday at 4:00 PM and end on Friday at 12:00 PM.  Groups are co-ed and are limited to 10-12 people per group.

Staffing:

The program has been designed by Ann Smith, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Pennsylvania, who supervises and oversees clinical work. Therapists have a variety of credentials among them Certified Experiential Counselors, Certified Addictions Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselors, and one Ph.D.  All have been thoroughly trained in experiential therapy and have addressed personal issues through their own treatment.

Program Content:

With each day, defenses are gradually lowered and honest feelings emerge.  Group activities and experiences, and the relationships developed in the group enable participants to identify and release painful feelings of the past and break old dysfunctional patterns.  Experiential, active methods and techniques such as Psychodrama, role play and family sculpture are important program components.  Each person leaves with specific direction for follow-up care and a referral to a therapist, if they do not have this established as yet.

Admission Requirements:
  • Adults over the age of 18
  • Participants must be physically and emotionally able to handle the intensity of feelings and activity of group therapy for 6 or more hours per day. Physician and/or therapist approval may be required.
  • If you are a recovering addict or alcoholic, 6 months abstinence is preferred.  *Please note, you do not need to be a recovering addiction/alcoholic to attend Breakthrough.
  • Although not required, greater benefits are achieved when this program is used as part of ongoing therapy.

Cost:

$2,550.00 for room, board and treatment.

*Because Breakthrough is considered a workshop, no diagnosis is given and it is not covered by any insurance.
